CATCH Master Class graduation and CCDT Certification
The CATCH Master class program was a great learning experience for me. I received a wealth of knowledge on dog training and behavior over ten parts (phases), in addition to working closely with a Mentor Trainer. Each phase consisted of a different training topic and involved self study from a study guide, selected readings from some of the top recommended training books as well as hands-on training activities to complete with my student dog. Additionally, at the end of each phase I also completed an exam, which included both a multiple choice and a written part. Some phases also included a graded evaluation on my demonstration of dog training topics with my student dog performed for my Mentor Trainer.
While attending the Master class program, I also attended two CATCH week long in-person workshops at the campus of St Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center in Madison, New Jersey. I attended the Professional Dog Training Skills workshop in March 2016 and the Body Language, Behavior, and Problem Solving Skills Workshop in April 2017. These two workshops were extremely beneficial in helping me with the material as well as providing a wealth of hands-on training on the topics learned during the Master Class. During the workshops, we worked exclusively with dog residents at St. Hubert’s awaiting adaption and the valuable training they learned from these workshop participants made a positive impact on these dogs and assisted with them getting adapted.
